I was a bride myself in 2019 and these are some of my top questions to ask your photographer I found super helpful when I was searching for a photographer! I think choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions you need to make, if not the most important! It’s someone who is going to be with you for every part of your day, you have to trust them implicitly! They are solely responsible for telling your love story on the biggest day of your life so its super important you make the right decision and you ensure they are the perfect photographer for the job! Here are my top 5 questions to ask …
Is our wedding date available?
(Sounds obvious right but it’s not always the first question!) So thats why its in my top questions to ask your photographer. The last thing you want to do is search for hours, find someone you think may be the perfect photographer to find out they aren’t available on your date! A little secret but I was so adamant on who I wanted as our wedding photographer I actually made sure they were available first before I secured my date with the venue! seems crazy right? but id spent hours searching for the right photographer for us as a couple to tell our story the way we wanted and we were so certain we had made the right decision. So before we paid our deposit to the venue we had our photographer pencil us in on a 24 hour hold to ensure we could secure both the venue which was Bassmead Manor Barns in Bedfordshire and photographer and pay the deposits at the same time!.

Have you shot a wedding at our venue before?
This question is important but it isn’t a make or break deal. The reason this question would be in my top 5 questions is because if they have shot a wedding at your venue before you’ll be able to see a sample of their work for this particular venue. This will allow you picture yourself there and get an idea of how your images will look. It also means they will have venue knowledge which can come in handy however if the photographer hasn’t I promise it isn’t a big deal. Any experienced photographer will be able to capture all the beautiful moments of your big day whether they’ve shot there before or not and if they are like me they will scout the venue and research before hand just to make sure!
Do you offer extra hours coverage if we need it?
This is one of the top questions to ask your photographer as It is super important you are aware of the level of coverage you are receiving with your photography package. As the length of coverage varies from one photographer to another. I personally have set packages which should include all the coverage you should need. However if you do find you need more I also offer an hourly rate in addition to the package. I can also offer bespoke quotes for weddings that require less coverage or smaller intimate weddings.
How long will our images take to get to us?
On average you’ll find photographers take between 4-6 weeks during off peak season and 6-8 weeks during peak season. Off peak is considered November to April and peak is May to October. I aim to always deliver sneak peeks within 72 hours of the wedding and deliver the full and final gallery within 4-6 weeks even during peak times.
How will we receive our images?
This answer varies from photographer to photographer but most you’ll find supply images on an online gallery. This is also important you check because you do not want to receive your images in a way which you do not expect. I personally supply all my images digitally on a private password protected gallery. These pictures are high resolution and can be printed, downloaded and shared unlimited times amongst family and friends.
